On 24th of August, 2024, A career counselling workshop was held at Ganesh International School & Sr. Secondary, Chikhali. The workshop focused on exploring career opportunities in the field of pharmacy, covering topics such as the history of pharmacy, the role of a pharmacist, eligibility and course requirements, research and development, formulation and development, and government job opportunities.
Speakers
The workshop was conducted by two distinguished speakers:
1. Mrs. Rajshree Rakesh Nikam (M. Pharm, Pursuing Ph.D., Assistant Professor at Siddhi College Of Pharmacy)
2. Miss. Renuka Dabholkar (M. Pharm, 1.5 years of teaching experience)
The program was attended by a diverse group of participants, including students from Classes 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th, as well as their parents. In total, there were 108 students and 34 parents in attendance.
The event was graced by the presence of several dignitaries from the institute, including: Institute’s Chairman, Mr. S.B. Patil sir, Trustee Mr. Ganesh Patil sir, Administrative Officer Mr. Prakash Gaikwad sir, Associate Director Mr. Sunil Shewale, School Principal Mrs. Shilpa Gaikwad, Co-ordinator Mrs. Madhuri Yewale, Sports Co-ordinator Mr. Vinod Jagdale, Teaching staff and Non- Teaching staff and other members of the school community.
The workshop provided a comprehensive overview of the pharmacy field, beginning with its historical development and the role of pharmacists in the healthcare system. The speakers discussed the educational pathways, including eligibility criteria and course requirements for pursuing a career in pharmacy. Emphasis was placed on the research and development (R&D) aspects, particularly in formulation and development, which are critical in the pharmaceutical industry.
Furthermore, the speakers highlighted the various government job opportunities available to pharmacy graduates, offering insights into how students can prepare for these roles.
Conclusion
The workshop was highly informative and well-received by both students and parents. It provided valuable guidance to the attendees, helping them understand the diverse career paths available in the field of pharmacy. The presence of esteemed dignitaries and the active participation of students and parents contributed to the success of the event.
